Five Acres Children's Guild

Five Acres Children's Guild contributes throughout the year supporting projects for the children and special events that benefit the children of Five Acres.  Chaired by President, Sandra Goto-Hochman, the Children's Guild seeks new members who are interested in becoming "angels" to Five Acres children by providing birthday parties, monthly activities, and other events throughout the year.

Five Acres Children’s Guild, a local service group dedicated to advancing Five Acres’ mission and vision. The Five Acres Children’s Guild, established in 1990, consists of local volunteers who primarily serve as positive role models for children living in residential care at Five Acres.

Members of the Children’s Guild also develop and implement programs that directly support the children of Five Acres and help increase public awareness, volunteer and financial support. Guild volunteers work directly with the children in three out of seven on-campus cottages each month, forming consistent and meaningful relationships. Activities include: playing sports, creating arts and crafts projects, cooking meals, making jewelry and holding dance parties, to name a few. The Children’s Guild is looking for additional members with the goal of being able to sponsor more children.

Guild members meet monthly to discuss upcoming events, cottage activity schedules, Birthday Angels program and introduce new members. In addition, they host a monthly on-campus cottage activity and each treat the children to an off-campus activity each quarter. Past outings have included: Kidspace Museum, Griffith Park Observatory, the California Science Center and a local Halloween carnival. Watch our event page too for special events and meetings.
