Five Acres APSS received a makeover and $10,000 in furnishings from IKEA Covina

(Feb. 3, 2012: San Dimas, Calif.) — Five Acres’ Adoptions and Adoption Promotion Support Services (APSS) Program is the winner of IKEA Covina’s Life Improvement Project, IKEA announced today. The “text-to-vote” contest encouraged the public to cast their votes from Jan. 6 to Jan. 20 for one of two agencies: Five Acres’ Adoptions Program in San Dimas or San Gabriel Valley Children’s Center in Glendora. Five Acres came in with the most text votes, winning the $10,000 prize which will be used to redecorate their San Dimas office to provide a more client-friendly environment.

Five Acres’ Adoptions Program provides support to children and adoptive families to nurture lifetime commitments, ensure permanency for children, expedite the adoption process and reduce disruption of adoption. Five Acres’ Adoptions Program strives to empower children and parents to build and sustain family wellness and permanency at any stage along the adoption continuum. The $10,000 prize will be used to revamp their multipurpose room used for meetings, group discussion, training/coaching sessions and family fun.

“Thank you to all those who cast votes for Five Acres in this contest” said Marianne Guilfoyle, adoption program supervisor at Five Acres. “We are so grateful for the opportunity to improve upon our ability to serve the members of the adoption constellation within our community through IKEA's generous donation of time, talent and funding.”
