Regina King
Lead Trainer/Public Relations/Secretary - Just like it is rarely the fault of a pet coming to the ER, it is rarely the child’s fault that lands them in the system. The term “hard” is an understatement, defining life in The Foster Care System for any youth. Since the age of 7, I’ve been to about 5 Group Home’s, 2 Foster homes, 2 Residential Treatment Center’s, and 1 Juvenile Hall, after my grandmother passed from diabetes. Even after emancipating at 17, I continue to struggle. Working as a teen trainer allows me to be the voice of youth struggling everyday telling sharing my stories about life in The Foster Care System and mentor those that still are. I have an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts degree and working towards my Bachelors Degree in Animal Health Science/RVTg license. I am currently training at Video Symphony Institute of Post Production, to become a certified expert in AVID and Final Cut Pro. I work 2 jobs, plan to continue as a foster youth advocate, and start an Animal Social Services Program. My side hobbies are modeling, club promoting, video editing, website designing, and the most enjoyable… sleeping. At age 26, I can truly say that I am NOT a part of the large statistic that “go downhill” after exiting the System, but AM a success story! My experiences an “issues” have made me the strong woman I am today and I only hope to be an inspiration to others.
