Spirt of Goldstein Award
Five Acres was recently presented with the “Spirit of Goldstein” Award at the 2011 Evidence-Based Practices Symposium sponsored by the California Institute of Mental Health for our quality delivery of the Evidence-Based Practice “Aggression Replacement Training.” The award was named after the developer of A.R.T., Dr. Arnold P. Goldstein. Dr. Goldstein was an expert on non-violent conflict resolution, founder and director of the Center for Research on Aggression in Syracuse, and co-founder and a board member of the International Center for Aggression Replacement Training. He wrote about 50 professional books and one work of fiction. He was a professor of education and psychology at Syracuse University for 30 years.
This is the first year that the Spirit of Goldstein Award has been presented and Five Acres was privileged to be among the first recipients in CA to receive this award along with Alameda County Juvenile Hall, Contra Costa Juvenile Hall, San Mateo County, STARS Behavioral Health, Ventura County Juvenile Probation and Occupational Therapy Training Program – San Francisco (OTTP). ART is delivered in 39 counties via 95 teams throughout California, both through entire county systems as well as private providers. Five Acres receipt of this award is thanks to the tireless work of Angie Wilbur, ART Supervisor and Agency ART training and her team of 19 facilitators. Five Acres has been delivering ART within the agency since 2006.
